I can't say enough good things about Zak Newman and his team. I was in a really difficult situation that could have dragged on for months, maybe even years--but Zak made the impossible happen. I hired Zak Newman to handle an expungement in McMinn County. This was for a series of 30+ year felony convictions, including one class B Cocaine felony. Zak traveled two counties over outside of his practice region to help me. Zak filed a 26-page comprehensive petition with exhibits under section H of the statute. The petition far exceeded my expectations. Zak left no doubt in the judge's mind and the DA's office filed no objection. The Criminal Court of McMinn County found the petition well taken and ordered all eight convictions to be expunged and the records destroyed, including the class B felony. For more than 30 years I had lived on the edges of society as a convicted felon. Obtaining the expungement was a new lease on life and it profoundly changed my future. I recently verified with TDOC and the TBI that the convictions were in fact erased. I registered to vote and even obtained a firearms permit after a national fingerprint background check. Zak Newman is an attentive listener and tremendous communicator. Client/attorney compatibility is of high importance to anyone seeking to hire an attorney. Sometimes you need to be quiet and follow the attorney's lead. Sometimes the attorney needs you to step up to the plate and do some of the heavy lifting. There is not enough stars to give this gentleman! I would like to say Zak was noble, humble, and genuine. Things that you absolutely can't find in an Attorney. I have been burned too many times by Attorney's countless times before. Zak is notable of his oath and what he represents in his profession. He is one of the very few rare breeds, God sent honestly. I fasted and prayed and God sent me a heavenly helper. Zak had a plan, a reputation with his constituents which is essentially what you're paying for. He was worth the investment, a very worthy lawyer. I believe he tells it like it is. If any uncertainty is in the mist he will let you know. Mr. Newman was awesome, and helped my son in a criminal case. He was attentive, informative, and did an amazing job. I work in another city Courthouse and see many attorneys all day. I knew when I first spoke to him, he was one of the good ones. Use him!
