I came to Max at a low point in my life. I was divorced with 50/50 custody, and because of several serious malicious attempts to discredit me, I was in jeopardy of losing custody of my kids forever. During our first phone conversation, I could tell Max was a man who although had an incredibly affable and pleasant exterior had a tough, strong core. I was also immediately impressed with Max's desire to do the right thing. Family court is an adversarial beast and Max seeks to navigate that space with grace and good will, while also being tough as nails when the need arises. Max was quick to understand my situation and to empathize. He is genuine, intelligent, and graced with a fine sense of humor. My custody case was contentious and convoluted, and it required nuance and an ability to navigate the other lawyer, the guardian, as well as the legal system. Max navigated it with aplomb and skill. I learned later that Max has a good reputation in the legal system as a lawyer and a man with integrity and this says something especially within an industry that can be incredibly cut throat. Max has the discernment and experience to know when to be tough, when to be gracious, and when to go to war. As Max said to me during our first phone call, "I will shoulder this burden with you," and he did. He kept his promise. I have four kids, and Max does too, and he was particularly sensitive to me as a father fighting for his right to spend equitable time with his kids. Max is very much aware and empathetic to the plight of fathers in this system as is it is and how it overlooks dads who really want to spend time with their kids. I am happy to report that Max was instrumental in getting the custody situation that I and my kids deserved, and Max did that through empathy, kindness, experience, and the discernment to know when it's time to get tough.
