I hired this firm to help me with an invalid lien from my HOA. I paid a $5,000 retainer with the understanding that if I settled and the lien was removed, I would receive my $5,000 retainer back. That is not what happened. Instead, I ended up being charged over $3,000 in attorney's fees, and I did not receive a clear accounting, settlement statement, or closing documents explaining how my money was used. What I was told would happen and what actually happened with my retainer and the settlement did not match. Based on my experience, I do not believe this firm was honest with me, and I personally do not trust them. I later saw other reviews with similar complaints and wish I had known that before hiring them. They operate out of Pawleys island as well. Refer to those reviews as well. I walked away feeling misled, overcharged, and not properly represented. I would not hire this firm again and I strongly recommend that others stay away and do their research before hiring them.

I paid over $3500 to L. Shawn Sullivan and Winslow law firm to get property deeded in my name. Nothing was happening after a year. I went to visit L. Shawn Sullivan at both locations unannounced. He extended his hand and then I refused to shake it. He offered to find me another attorney because he was intimidated by my color and my confidence. He wanted to refer me elsewhere and I told him the R word he needs to find is refund my money. I later get an email from him terminating our relationship. I called the person he claims that he reached out to and was able to speak to her that day. Shared the name and number with him and he was embarrassed. I asked for a call log. None was produced. The letter he claimed he emailed was mysteriously sent earlier the morning of July 1, 2025. Everyone black isn't ignorant, Shawn Sullivan. Do not use this firm if you are a person of color.
