Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio - Steubenville office

This is an amazing service to have in our area for low income individuals who need serious help. I called and I went through the intake and it was rather quick and in a couple days one of the attorneys called me and we discussed in detail what it was I needed and the procedures on their end was explained to me and I was informed that they have to sit down as a firm and go through each case and decide which ones need their attention and which ones they can't represent so even though you called them it doesn't mean that they are going to be able to represent you in court however they do help you complete paperwork and file anything that you need to file so that you can do it on your own. Unfortunately they were not able to represent me in court however we still completed all of the paperwork necessary for me to file for divorce. They're going to take it and filed it at the courthouse for me and throughout the process if I need anything any help filling anything else out or any questions if I need anything at all All I have to do is call and they are there to help me through this. So I highly highly highly suggest if you're in need of an attorney and you cannot afford the ridiculous fees that these attorneys charge call them call legal services they will help you even if they can't go into the court with you they will not leave you hanging

Came in inquiring about legal help with my divorce as I'm a homemaker and don't make an income, and they told me my case was not important enough for them to spare an attorney for. The lady had an extremely unprofessional, rude attitude and dropped several f-bombs while speaking to me. I was in tears leaving the office.

Did the initial intake. I thought I would hear back because they said they would call. Never called me back. UPDATE...my number wasn't right. So this office put my number is wrong. So I got a helpful call finally. After they sent a letter from Columbus

Impatient and rude as if I called and interrupted you're lunch break which by the way it is only 10:30am. As I'm explaining a very tender story in regards to my particular situation in which I was contacting them for in the first place, she crudely interrupts me ( not even in the midst of my story) and says that there's nothing they can help me with... Really? You are legal aid, right? I needed at least some advice. She didnt even know where I was going with my question. There for even more of a reason for her to just hear me out, so she would understand. Then if you still cant help at least point me in the right direction. What I should do or where should I go or who maybe who could be of assistance. Patience and compassion go a long way my dear. Maybe try to compose yourself as the professional your trying to be. As for me I will figure my situation out though so no worries. Just a shame...

They looked at the facts and gave me the opportunity to work with a non-local attorney. Everyone involved was very kind and professional. I was able to get justice in my unemployment case. Would recommend 10/10
