I tried to work with Balin for the initial application. This was my first attempt and was very down due to an illness impacting my functioning in many ways, which was scary enough. They did take my case so I was encouraged and that process was good. However they then dropped the ball and my case worker Julia Davidson never got the application going. I tried to inquire about what to do regarding work. I wanted to attempt to return to my career while applying. Who doesn't want to be able to work? Who wants to give up their career they worked for for years? They took that to mean don't apply and never followed up until two months went by and I checked in to see what was happening. Afterward, things came at me from the SSA left and right and I had no idea what to do. I tried to ask them for help and support but received little and poor responses. My initial app was denied no surprise. But I heard nothing from them Until a month later when they randomly sent an appeal app for me to do. What did I hire them for, I continually wondered? No guidance on what to tell my doctor, how to handle the process with a handicap, help with forms, what to expect, and very little empathy. I ultimately decided to table this process having had some health improvements, but still no response. Oh well, I guess my expectations were maligned with reality. Just hoped for some compassion, concern and support through uncharted waters.
