You don't want to get sued. It's expensive and takes a lot of your time and energy. However, if you do get sued, you want an amazing team of attorneys on your side. How do I know all this? We got sued. So I started calling attorneys that I had found in a Google search. A couple of them had recommended Steven Smith, from Smith Law Group, in Winston Salem, NC; especially given the subject matter of the lawsuit. In our case, it was regarding a construction lawsuit. As soon as we had our initial meeting with Mr. Smith and his team we knew we were in good hands. He and his team were extremely knowledgeable and confident and we felt really good about things after meeting with them. Of course, anyone can sound confident in an initial consultation; but can they practice law? That's the trouble any of us have when we select a lawyer (or doctor, etc). How do we know? Most of us will only have to deal with a lawyer once or twice in our lives; so how can we know who is good and who to trust? Reading reviews like this is a good way to go. And that's why I want to write more than just a basic review. I want you to understand that if you hire Smith Law Group, you are hiring the best. Steve, Matt and Brian (the folks I dealt with regularly) were kind and competent the entire process. Were they the cheapest? Probably not. (I don't know because I've never had to use a lawyer before.) I felt like their price was fair and they were worth every penny. Oh, but back to the question of "can they practice law"... so, our case ended in mediation. And we trounced the opposing side. You should have seen Mr. Smith during the mediation. It was amazing! It was actually so fun to watch a master executing his craft flawlessly. The opposing side didn't stand a chance. It was like watching Rocky Balboa in a boxing match against a middle school kid. So... getting sued is scary, expensive, takes a lot of time and is emotionally draining. If you find yourself in that position (or, if you need to sue someone), you owe it to yourself to give Smith Law Group a call.
