I had a scheduled appointment for 1 PM and I showed up a few minutes before, the door was locked and there was a sign indicating to ring the bell. I rang the bell waited a couple of minutes, rang the bell again and waited a couple of minutes. I then called Ms. Merz and got her voicemail. I indicated that I was outside as per our scheduled meeting and wasn't sure if she forgot or if it was my error. I decided to ring the bell one more time, and this time an associate answered the door and instructed me to sit in the lobby. A couple of minutes later, Ms. Merz came out and said she had to apologize but her 12 o'clock appointment had just arrived and she would put me in her office and basically go from room to room. I clearly indicated that in my experience I have found it inappropriate to reward the latecomer and penalize the prompt person. She shrugged it off as if oh well. I asked if the tardiness was based on an emergency and I was informed it was not. I continued with the meeting even though the chemistry between us was not what I prefer when I'm working with a professional. It came to the point where I had to sign the agreement accepting the terms of Ms. Merz's retainer. I was very surprised to see that I had to pay the entire amount due up front before anything was even set in motion. I inquired concerning this and was told it is her policy. I was very uncomfortable with that particular part of our meeting. But again I tried to get past that and she agreed to take a lesser amount for two days but still wanted the entire amount before any major action had been taken. In my gut I wanted to leave but I decided to stay until she gave me a form that didn't even have my name on it in the right spot. It was at this point I decided I could not use her as my attorney. I felt she was unprofessional on more than one issue. I told her I would seek the guidance of another attorney and I left.

Mary helped us with many legal issues surrounding our property, from out of state. Eviction, code violations etc. Each step of the way she truthfully advised and represented and made the process fluid and ease of mind. Her rates are very reasonable. I literally called to request a free consultation as it states she has on her website. She asked me the situation I was in and I started to explain. She literally cut me off mid sentence and kept over talking me and wouldn't listen to anything i had to say. Unfortunately I had a feeling we wouldn't work on a professional level but I still tried to explain. She then rudely said to me she had another call on hold and can't be bothered anymore and hung up on me. It's really sad when someone is in a vulnerable state, is reaching out for help and someone makes them feel like they are the size of an ant or like they are useless individuals. Terrible professionalism.
