The beginning of my divorce was an absolute nightmare, and it was clear that my previous attorney cared more about running up fees than getting my divorce done and over with. This firm practices compassion and empathy for their clients, unlike my previous representation, which was extremely refreshing considering the amount of stress I had to go through. I hired Schultz and Associates based on positive reviews. However, they did not allow me to select or even speak with the available attorney--something that should have been a red flag from the beginning. At the time, I was extremely stressed and vulnerable, and I trusted that the firm had their clients' best interests in mind. After a series of poorly executed conferences and negotiations, I began asking questions. The responses I received were vague and dismissive, often citing the unpredictability of the court system. While I understand that legal outcomes can vary, I cannot accept that simple requests--some of which were unnecessary--ended up costing six times the original estimate. At that point, I terminated the firm. Even after termination, they continued to charge me for services I did not authorize. They also withheld the remaining balance of my retainer for nearly four months, despite multiple follow-ups. It took persistent communication to finally recover my funds. It was a mistake to entrust them with a large retainer. I urge others not to make the same mistake.
