On July 17, I scheduled a consultation regarding child support reinstatement. During the conversation, it became clear that the attorney I spoke with was not familiar with Missouri child support law. Specifically, in Missouri, child support cannot be permanently waived. Support that has been set to $0 may be reinstated whenever there is a valid reason to do so. Additionally, I was advised that I likely would not receive even half of what I previously did. However, through my own research of Missouri state law and with the assistance of legal resources, I was able to address my case correctly. While it is completely acceptable not to be knowledgeable on every area of law, it is important to acknowledge that rather than provide incorrect guidance. Please note that I do have a record of this consultation, which lasted 16 minutes. I would strongly prefer not to receive a response claiming there is no record of this call.
