Client Testimonials

Client

I honestly don't take the time to write negative reviews but I felt that I would truly be doing an injustice by not posting about the terrible experience I had with Starling Law firm. Maybe 2 yrs ago he was in a better state of mind but anyone giving him 5 stars recently has to be a friend & doing him a favor. I had the same experience as a few others on here have had. I gave Brian Starling a $1000 retainer to represent me in a case about a business deal. He requested I pick him up to go to the meeting. The meeting lasted all of 30 min & during that time Brian drank 3 beers & began to slur in his speech. I waited for weeks to get a call back about the case. I couldn't get him to reply to text or hardIy ever get anyone to answer the phone at the office & it was always someone different. I Never got a reply until I text him to let him know I had retained another attorney & he had such an unprofessional attitude & tried to turn the situation around as If I had done something wrong. I've requested back the difference he owes & he threatened to sue me saying I owed him more money. This was an unbelievable situation but thankfully I have an amazing attorney now that had the case going & people served within a week of retaining him. Please, don't waste your money. It's like playing the lottery here...most of the time you are going to lose your money.

Brian was hired to handle two separate cases for my mother. He was paid in full for both cases. Had I known how awful the experience was from the first case I would have advised my mother to not use him again. We had the WORST experience and from the looks of it we weren't the only ones. He does not respond. I have been calling and leaving voicemails since 2020. Not to mention going to his office and getting little to no help over the last couple years. Now his office is never open and has a paper on the door stating that current clients can not show up to the office without an appointment. The phone listed is DISCONNECTED!!! He never showed up to the first court appearance and never gave us any information as to where or when it was rescheduled. (This occurred both times he was hired.) I drove up 5 hours to accompany my mother and him. We then drove 3 hours to Greenville. His secretary called us 30 mins shy of arriving to the court house to let us know he was not going to make it. I was furious. I could not believe he'd done this. I explicitly told him and his secretary I was making the drive and he still had 0 consideration for his client. This man is clearly not okay and should not be allowed to pose as a lawyer. He is only interested in taking advantage of people in need of counsel. We may never get our money back, but I would like to warn anyone considering to hire this man. DO NOT DO IT!

I contacted Brian about my case. We met at his office and discussed a plan. Told me that id be able to get my child back quicker if I hired him. And that he would accept a payment plan. Then later told me I had to give him all up front. So I met with his secretary, one of many, on two different occasions to pay him $2000.00. Then we had a court date set for chancery court. Before the court date came up CPS contacted me to go to youth court. I tried to call Brian and let him know but couldn't get in contact with him. Finally he called me and advised me NOT to go to youth court. So I didn't. And CPS put my child in a foster home. Afterwards we went to chancery court and he acted as though he had no clue as to what he was doing. And not to mention he was late!!! So I had a couple of more court dates afterwards and one of them he didn't even show up for. I called and called him but never got no return call. Went to his office multiple times but never was there. And the couple of times I was able to meet with him, me and my 16yr old daughter, he pulled out a beer and started drinking on them. So unprofessional. So in a nutshell I give him $2000.00 for him to get my child out of my custody and into a foster home. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANY KIND OF LEGAL MATTER!!!

Client

Paid Brain Starling up front in July for a simple amendment to a divorce. It took over 3 months to just have it typed up. Then it was never filed at the courthouse. I had let it be known it had to be done for a closing on my mortgage refinance. Needless to say I didn't get to close because it was never filed. I had to personally get the paperwork filed at the courthouse myself. Then the paperwork was so messed up I was still denied my divorce. I can never get through to the office, noone ever calls me back, and I was lied to multiple times and feel like I should get money back! I would never recommend this attorney to anyone! Never seen the attorney after paying him.
