I was nervous initially to speak to a lawyer about my specific family legal issue regarding heirship law in the free consultation. Mr. Hunter was very patient, listened to my concerns and helped me to understand what his firm could do to assist me. The most important was the ease of communication, being transparent with his limited information about my situation until he has more time and documentation to focus, scheduling the meeting based on my West Coast time and being able to talk openly about fees for his legal services. I had to research and do my due diligence specifically to search for black lawyers in (McComb/Liberty/Pike areas) Mississippi and he or black law firms aren't easy to find. I used Google where only two names returned results Marcus Williams and Edward Powell. I reached out to Mr.Powell and connected via Instagram. He referred me to the Mississippi Justice Center. I was able to find Hunter Law firm in Natchez on Instagram as the closest county to where my legal issue resides in Liberty, MS as I am originally from California. I looked at the MS Bar Assoc. which drilled down to the Magnolia Black Bar Lawyer search. I was not familiar with the different MS counties only the areas where my great grandparents land is. The main concerns I had were lawyer practice area for my legal issue, fees and proximity to get to Liberty as I would eventually have to pay for there time to get there if required. Those factors significantly narrowed my choices as majority firms are at or near Jackson,MS. Overall, I am relieved with being able to speak with Mr. Hunter to begin and eventually resolve the heirship land issue I have hopefully in a short time.
