If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I am not a lawyer, and what follows is my personal experience and opinion concerning a matter I was involved in with Attorney Sweeney. I transferred funds to Mr. Sweeney's office to finance a case brought by a former friend of mine against his sister. The office never provided me a contract nor receipt for payment. Nothing was formalized in writing; the money was accepted and I was effectively excluded from communication about the case. When repayment became due, I repeatedly requested return of the funds but was met with silence. After my former friend obtained access to a family trust, the very issue this lawyer had been retained to resolve, he told the trustee not to repay me. I wonder if either Mr. Sweeney or the trustee informed him that he had no legal basis not to repay me for the money paid to them. Furthermore Mr. Sweeney's office initially acknowledged in an email that the debt existed and even instructed that payment be made, but in an about face, afterward no repayment occurred. From my perspective it appeared that, following discussions with my ex-friend, Mr Sweeney and the trustee chose not to close out the matter in a reasonable manner, and settled on silence as their response. During the same period, the former friend posted defamatory statements about me on social media. I forwarded these to both Mr Sweeney and the trustee; it took quite some time before those posts were removed, with no recognition from the lawyers. In total, I am out $5,000, never mind the embarrassment they allowed their client to heap on me, and despite numerous polite attempts to resolve it, neither the trustee nor Mr. Sweeney has engaged this matter with me. I can document every item described above. Future clients should tread carefully. Caveat emptor.

However, I will forever be grateful and thankful for Attorney Sweeney and his team's hard work to be successful in the beginning of my journey.
