Kelly law Firm.. Melissa Schroeder have helped me so much. I am going through a difficult custody battle and Melissa has been with me every step of the way. ETA2: I was sent an email saying "Shame on you!!" because my review "will hurt my business and my family." Shaming someone who needs their money because of their child's health condition speaks volumes about their character. ETA: Amazingly, an hour after writing this review, they suddenly have a check for me to pick up. Funny how they can electronically debit my account, but they can't do an electronic refund. Also funny how they can cut a check today, but they couldn't at any other time in the last 30 days. TLDR: Melissa Schroeder kept my retainer and didn't do any work for me. Due to sudden, unexpected medical bills for my son, I informed Melissa and her secretary that I needed to discontinue services after only having hired her a few days before. I requested a refund of my retainer, minus any expenses she had incurred. I contacted them via both email and phone on June 29. Since it was a Saturday, I didn't expect a reply until Monday. Monday came and went. So on Tuesday, I called again. At that time I was told that they had not done any work, so there wouldn't be any charges and that they would send me a refund in 30 days. I explained that the money was for medical equipment for my son and that I needed it ASAP. I was told they would do what they could to speed the process. On July, 22 I contacted them again to see when I would receive my refund. They didn't call back until July 24. The secretary left me a VM saying that my refund should be completed on July 31 and no later than August 1. It's now August 1. I don't have the money I need to pay for my son's medical back brace. I've tried calling twice, and both times someone has taken a message and supposedly labeled it urgent. I will be filing a complaint with the KS Bar Assoc.

Melissa has been wonderful to work with. She has advised me multiple times on a child custody situation. I highly reccomend her to anyone looking for a caring, responsive attorney.
