A Warning About How Hertz Treats Its Customers -- Please Read Before Renting I want to share a frustrating experience with Hertz to help others avoid a similar situation. Please check everything thoroughly when you rent your car, even if it seems fine at first glance. I rented a car from Hertz for a family trip to Florida. I picked the car up in the afternoon and drove it home -- just 14 miles away. That evening, my wife noticed a screw embedded in one of the tires. There was no warning light on the dashboard, and the tire wasn't losing air, but it was clear from the photos I took that the screw had been in there for some time. Since the rental location was already closed, I drove an hour to the airport location to exchange the vehicle. I didn't want to risk driving my family across state lines on a compromised tire. The staff at the airport location agreed the screw looked like it had been there for a while and swapped the car without issue. Not one person told me I'd be held responsible. Two weeks later, I received a surprise bill from Hertz for $161.07 -- claiming I was at fault for the tire damage. I called customer service, and unfortunately, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude. When I explained the situation and said I had photos showing no warning lights and a screw clearly embedded in the tire, she told me unless I had photos from the Hertz lot, I was responsible. I've rented from Hertz many times and considered myself a loyal customer -- but if this is how they treat loyalty, it might be time to move on to Enterprise. Please take this as a heads-up: inspect your rental thoroughly before leaving the lot, document everything, and don't assume Hertz will have your back.

Reading the reviews had me nervous about renting from here. We booked our car through Priceline about 4 days in advance. I went up there around 9 am the day we were picking up our vehicle on 3/13/25 (the reservation was for 1 pm) just because of the reviews I wanted to make sure we would have a car. We reserved a small SUV. When I got there, 1 person was waiting on a vehicle, 1 person being checked in and 2 others waiting. Only 2 employees were working. Let me stop and praise Icesys for a moment. I waited about 40 minutes to be assisted and once she got to me she was so helpful in this whole process. She let me know that they hadn't had any small SUVs for 2 weeks, so she wouldn't know if they would have any until the truck came in. She was kind enough to tell me what they had and also let me know she could put me in a different vehicle we would just need to change my reservation time because 11-1 is the busiest time of day and honestly all, it's first come first serve regardless of eea we reservation. She stepped out to get the vehicle and that's when I noticed that they were the ones washing and vacuuming out the vehicles before getting them checked out. These employees have no control over what vehicles they have in stock. They don't control the website. Having attitudes with them in the office serves no point because you will leave with no car. Like I said I was nervous booking through them and was mad when she told me they didn't have a small SUV but by having a nice conversation with Icesys I got a better understanding of the car rental game and walked out with a better vehicle. I will rent from this location again. Icesys and the other lady (didn't get her name) were very nice to everyone there and constantly thanked us for being patient. The attitudes I read about was not my experience, however, the other customers in there with me were just as nice to the employees as I was. My only issue is with HERTZ because I paid through Priceline and they took the balance the morning of my reservation but once I checked out the vehicle HERTZ placed 3 pending charges for the rental amount on my card in addition to the deposit and I didn't understand the 3 pending charges if I've already paid.

Wifey reserved a vehicle in advance and specifically booked a minivan. She called a couple of times beforehand to confirm the reservation, and each time she was re-assured that everything was set. We arrived about ten minutes later than planned. As we stepped into the office, Lex greeted us warmly and let us know she'd be with us in just a minute as she finished assisting another customer. Despite clearly managing a lot at once -- juggling multiple tasks and keeping everything moving -- Lex remained calm and professional. She finished with a previous customer and started working with us, but the previous customer I had some more questions and she could see that the customer was starting to get frustrated. Lex asked for our patience and addressed the previous customer's issues. About ten minutes later, she returned to us, picked up right where we left off, and smoothly finalized our reservation. We received exactly the vehicle that was promised. This was a very good experience at this Hertz location and a lot of that was due to Lex.

I've been at Hertz in Conyers, GA since 9:30 AM and it is now 12:21 PM. I was given multiple excuses over and over with no real solution. The representative helping me was polite, but the manager literally sat there the entire time and never once stepped in to assist until after seeing how overwhelmed the guy was. Because of their lack of urgency and professionalism, I missed an important appointment I had scheduled and lost out on a deposit. This is completely unacceptable--especially as an insurance claim customer who should've been handled efficiently. I will not be returning to this location and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values their time.
