I'm so confused about all of these reviews! I have been working with Mike and his team for over a decade, handling various family law matters. He is direct and to the point, which I respect about him. He is very thorough when it comes to explanations and there is no such thing as a dumb question. He is warm and truly cares about the families that he serves

I find it curious that a law firm of "30 years" has only a handful of reviews, many of them unfavorable. Our first impression of the female that answered the phone was not a good one. She was curt, rude and unprofessional. She promised us a return call from the attorney to establish a consultation to discuss wills and trusts. That return call never happened.
So, in choosing an estate planner, it's imperative to notice whether or not your phone calls of inquiry to a prospective planner are promptly returned. This is perhaps the most important criteria in choosing a lawyer, because after you die, your executor, children, and other heirs will have enough other problems to deal with - getting the lawyer to call them back shouldn't be one of them. Prompt call backs are a great indicator of how efficient and trustworthy any lawyer will be.

For the person that said the lady answering the phone is rude, I totally agree. I filled out the questionnaire and statement of need in their client portal. I did not hear from them for days. When I call to inquire about the request, she explained, she said she would transfer me. No one answered. She finally reconnected and said, "Well you know, we gets lots of emails every day, so i guess he just missed it. I see that you sent your info to us." When I mentioned that I would think a potential client coming through a client portal would be given some level of attention, she said, "I think you are better off finding someone else to help you." That was the only smart thing she said. Beware and stay away!!!

Speechless! I was 30 minutes early for my appointment. When I arrived, Michael's administrator informed me the electricity would be turned off in 30 minutes. Michael came out of his office explaining he would take a quick look at my documents. As we sat in the dark, he informed me he needed to put a shirt on and apologized for the inconvenience. As he reviewed my paperwork, he was very unsure of a question so he called a close friend. He informed me what actions I needed to take and then jotted down an example of what it looked like. I felt like he satisfied my request to a degree, at that time. After we wrapped everything up he told me he just gave me a $1,000 worth of advice and charged me $400 for a 30 minute session. Before my appointment, I did call to check Michael's prices and I was promised he charges $300 an hour and if he didn't have to prepare any documents, it would be around $75 to $100.
The second part to this mess- My cousin and uncle coincidently went to the same lawyer. (not sure how that happened) Michael gave them completely different information. When I called, he told me that we just spoke yesterday and explained everything to me. I reassured him my appointment was the week prior. I asked him why he gave my family different information. He then explained. the information he gave me was wrong and that he didn't know. My uncle came in later that day and Michael told him it's a conflict of interest a this time and offered his money back. Upon speaking to him he explained I faulted to provide him the correct information. Completely pointing blame on me and not accepting fault or apologizing. Meanwhile, I provided Michael with all the trust documents and answered all the questions he asked and he still didn't have the answers. I was at the mercy of this lawyer to provide me with accurate information. I'm very unhappy with the results and how unprofessional this man is. I don't feel like I was able to get anything resolved. It's truly sad clients put all their trust in someone else's hands for someone to lie and not take pride in what they do! All I can say is, I hope your experience is better than mine!

As a grieving widow, attorney Michael Kouskoutis shut our family out of my husband's estate.
* Diverted all estate mail (bank statements, tax docs) to his private mailbox--no court order, no notice. We were blind to finances.
* Billed $450/hr as "reasonable," then hid subcontractors (attorneys/paralegals) whose fees pushed combined rates over $999/hr--all charged to our estate.
* Certified service to courts claiming we received filings--but e-portal records prove we never did.
* Drew my husband's will, named himself as witness and resident agent, then represented the estate--a clear conflict.
When I filed a Florida Bar complaint, he billed the estate to defend himself against my ethics report.
I lost sleep, savings, and family peace. If you're grieving or vulnerable: RUN. His actions shattered trust. I share this to protect others.
