I am a retired military veteran, and I hired Ariel Lett for a criminal case. I am sharing the facts of my experience so others can make an informed decision. My case was ultimately dismissed by the court because the state's witnesses failed to appear. While I am grateful for this outcome, my experience with this firm was deeply unprofessional. Here are the key issues I encountered: Lack of Case Knowledge: The attorney repeatedly suggested 'Veterans Court' as an option, even after I explained that my misdemeanor charges did not qualify. This showed me he was not familiar with the basic facts of my case. Pressure to Plead: The primary strategy seemed to be pressuring me to accept a plea deal, rather than preparing a strong defense. I felt my desire to fight the charges was dismissed. Unprofessional Fee Practices: After my initial pre-trial fee was paid, I was quoted a verbal-only price of $1500 for trial. There was no written contract. I paid a $500 advance, but when I decided to seek other counsel, the firm refused a refund, citing 'terms and conditions' that did not exist. Last-Minute Withdrawal: The firm filed a motion to withdraw the day before my court date, leaving me in an incredibly stressful and uncertain position. Ultimately, I paid $500 for a trial service that was never rendered, by an attorney who was unprepared and in the process of withdrawing. My case was won by a lucky break, not by the legal representation I paid for. I cannot recommend this firm.
