Barry Witt and the staff here are great. I hired Barry because he seemed kind, he knew opposing counsel, the judge, and I'd just hoped to expeditiously and quietly settle my matter. Unfortunately, my ex, god bless her, or her attorney, had a game plan straight out of Nightmare on Elm Street, which caused me to be a handful, or so I imagine. Even with a straight-forward matter turning into a full-fledged brawl in court, he adapted quickly and rolled with the punches. Every time we spoke, he asked insightful questions, so I know he's listening and reviewing my file. Once or twice he even channeled my rumination into a productive theory of the case or idea to pursue. I admit during less fruitful episodes of revisiting the relationship he was able to ground me and prevent me from wasting time and money chasing my own tail. I think he's an amazing family law attorney. He's competent, kind, trustworthy, and honest - definitely my kind of lawyer.

A Cautionary Tale: My Experience with Next Legal My journey with Next Legal was marked by frustration, disappointment, and financial devastation. Turning to Next Legal for assistance with my divorce, I was met with reassurances that ultimately proved empty. Despite verbal confirmation from Barry Witt that an MSA (Marital Settlement Agreement) adhering to California divorce terms would be drafted, this commitment was deceitful. To my dismay, crucial details like alimony, which had never been discussed nor included in the MSA, suddenly emerged, blindsiding me as I was dragged into court proceedings. Countless errors in documentation and financial information only exacerbated to the already dire situation, prolonging the agony and draining my resources. Throughout this ordeal, communication and competence were sorely lacking. Barry Witt's departure from the firm left me stranded without guidance, forcing me to navigate the complexities of the legal process alongside a paralegal, Deanne Cifuentes. By the time Zelikha Dost stepped in to offer assistance, the damage was irreparable. In a desperate bid to extricate myself from the turmoil, I sacrificed my entire life's savings and retirement funds. In hindsight, my experience serves as a cautionary tale. Next Legal's incompetence and disregard for client well-being resulted in profound personal and financial loss. I implore anyone considering their services to proceed with extreme caution, or better yet, explore alternative legal representation. In the end to escape from the situation I lost my entire life's savings and 401K retirement savings. Please do yourself a favor and avoid Next Legal like the proverbial plague.

Extremely unprofessional. Took my money but do not respond back for weeks. Wasted both my money and my time and caused me a lot of stress as it was a divorce process and ex husband has also been wondering for an update daily.

Woefully unqualified and wildly unprofessional

After being turned down by several attorneys due my case being unusual, I came across Next Legal who was willing to take my case. The chances of me winning were not likely since I already had an active case in another state regarding child custody/child support. Luckily, I had Bethany Taylor by my side who is extremely knowledgeable on the policies and procedures of which state had the right to exercise jurisdiction over my minor children. She was extremely prepared for my hearing and made sure we were both on the same page throughout the whole process. Bethany reached out to schedule a phone meeting the day before the hearing for any last questions or concerns. She also called me the morning of the hearing and right after the hearing as well. After having several previous attorneys, I can honestly say this is the first time I truly felt safe and felt like my attorney truly cared about me and my children. Needless to say we won and I am eternally grateful for Bethany. I can finally say the battle over jurisdiction is over after 2 years and I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. We still have some work to be done, but I look forward to working with Bethany in my future hearings. I definitely recommend her services and expertise to anyone who is in need of an attorney who truly cares about their clients.
