I was looking for a Living Trust attorney for about 2 months. The main issue was my parents don't speak English very well. After making a few calls near Fremont and San Jose, the cost for a Spanish speaking attorney was very expensive. I asked a few attorneys if my sister and I could translate. I was told that could be a conflict of interest. Also, if I wanted to pay for a translator, the cost would be $1000. I finally got a hold of Attorney John Greerty in Martinez. I called John and asked if he spoke Spanish. John stated he was fluent in Spanish and he could explain the process to my parents. We set up a time the following day for a phone call with my parents. The conversation with my parents went very well. John explained the process and the cost savings of avoiding probate. The next week, my parents and I met with John at his office. John had everything prepared for the signing including the Notary. Which made everything so convenient for my parents. As we left John's office, my parents mentioned what a nice person John was. Great attorney! John helped my mother and me get her will and estate planned out. It was as simple as one meeting to discuss what we were looking for and what he specifically recommended for her. At the following meeting, all the documents were reviewed and notarized. He produced a lot of essential documents with a quick turnaround--everything was taken care of within two weeks. John is accessible and super friendly. It's especially a plus that he speaks Spanish and is very culturally aware-- with Latinos and was able to relate well to my parents and me. He's also open to modifying any documents if things change in the future.
