My family's experience with Smith & Johnson Law during an already difficult time was extremely disappointing. Our mother had used this firm to create a trust for her daughters, so naturally, when she passed, we returned to them for guidance on how to proceed with her estate, which included her primary home and a rental property. Unfortunately, the level of professionalism and responsiveness we encountered was far below what any family should expect during the trust administration process. Instead of providing clear direction, the attorney simply handed us a binder and told us to "it's not like in the movies where there is a reading of a will." There was no explanation, no walkthrough, and no clarity on next steps. It was nothing like the supportive, informed process one would hope for--especially from the firm that created the trust in the first place. Repeated phone calls were left unanswered, and the office often took an unreasonably long time to return messages, if they returned them at all. When we finally secured a meeting after multiple attempts, the attorney appeared to misinterpret normal questions between siblings as conflict and refused to answer basic inquiries about the trust. The entire interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than offering guidance, they seemed more focused on suggesting additional paid services without first helping us understand the documents they drafted. For a family grieving and trying to ensure their mother's wishes were properly carried out, this lack of support was both frustrating and disheartening. Based on our experience, I do not recommend Smith & Johnson Law for trust creation or trust administration. If you are looking for a responsive, communicative, and professional attorney who will actually explain their work and guide you through the estate process, you may want to consider other firms. This office offered no meaningful assistance when we needed it most.
