My daughter hired Julie based on a referral to represent her in a contentious divorce case. I (her father) participated in their meetings, helping my daughter during this difficult time. My daughter challenged the authenticity of her signatures on fraudulent prenuptial documents drawn up by her ex-husband. Julie was to prepare an order to that effect for review by the judge. Julie dragged her feet claiming that there was plenty of time and there was no rush. During this time, just before a very important hearing, she went on vacation. During the hearing, Julie came ill-prepared, she didn't consult with my daughter to have all the necessary emails, facts, and proof needed (which my daughter had prepared for her) to have a successful hearing. In fact, she was so unprepared she didn't have any documents to present to the private judge at the hearing that would have changed the course of the case. The private judge dismissed it on a technicality that it was late by a few days. Julie was an embarrassment to my daughter's case. Julie's incompetence was very costly, she was more focused on draining my daughter's assets with perpetual retainer replenishments. To prevent a financial disaster, I had to step in and negotiate a settlement agreement with my then-son-in-law. The settlement agreement was very detailed about the division of the marital assets that my daughter's ex claimed they had. The true value of their assets (most likely hidden) was never uncovered. When this exhaustive negotiation came to an end it was presented to Julie and she refused to sign on it unless her forensic accountant prepared their own costly balance sheet with no financial benefit for my daughter. Julie was ill-prepared for all hearings. She kept calling for countless unnecessary phone meetings and didn't live up to any of her promises to learn the case and help in any way. Because of her lack of preparedness, the private judge had little respect for her and rejected all relevant orders other than money for the lawyers' retainers so that the case can keep going forward. Julie has only one interest in practicing law and that is her own bank account. Beware.

I hired Julie Flanagan to address false allegations and help me gain more custody and visitation of my child. She exceeded my expectations, by restoring my legal and physical custody of my child, increasing my visitations, helping me understand how family court/ judges work and she was smart enough to advise me when I was wrong or overreacting. Family court is emotionally and physically exhausting but she got us through a tough time. My child and I are better for her help. Family law isn't black or white, it's a process and I get that now. Julie was the third family attorney I've worked with and I would hire her again! I highly recommend her for family law.
