In September of 2015 I was forced into filing bankruptcy after a negligent ENT doctor in Conway botched a minor sinus surgery in February of that year causing me to be off work for 7 months and losing thousands of dollars. Doug Skelton and I had discussed my situation in length which had intrigued Doug because I had fell into a loophole allowing me to file bankruptcy. Doug Skelton had an obligation to inform me that if there was ever the slightest chance of recovering any money via a medical malpractice lawsuit it has to be disclosed at the dismissal meeting with the judge. Doug had not only told me prior to, but also the day of the bankruptcy dismissal hearing that any money recovery was irrelevant to my bankruptcy case being discharged. When the judge asked me whether or not I may come into some money in the future, I answered "no" because Doug had told me repeatedly that it would not affect any future medical malpractice lawsuit. Years later my medical malpractice lawsuit against the negligent doctor was dismissed due to this. The doctor's lawyers used my answer in this bankruptcy dismissal hearing against me and were able to win the case. Doug Skelton's ignorance regarding bankruptcy law potentially cost a multi-million dollar medical malpractice suit to be dismissed.
