Hannah at the public defender office saved my life, I was a prisoner at the "hospital" in Fairbanks, I came in with altered mental status, dehydration and pneumonia, they assigned me a psychiatrist as primary and locked me up in their most secure unit, you have to ask for water there, Dr was Dr Haack, I was there for 36 hours with no antibiotics given, I got no Iv hydration, I could have died, there were times I was dizzy and was having memory problems, I am an RN in Oregon and Washington, I asked for a head CT and Dr Haack said no, it was maybe criminal the way I was treated. Hannah saved my life at the 30day commitment hearing with the judge, the attorney general prosecutor had my own father testify against me, my family is pretty well off, I asked almost everyone to get me an independent lawyer, they all refused, I truly believe I am alive today because of Hannah. Meets the constitutionally mandated requirements for council. They do what they can with what they have. Most private attorneys have a staff and less cases then the average public defender. If you want good representation from a public defender you have to help them with your case not hinder them. If you don't like the level of representation you receive from the public defender's office write your representative in the Alaska Legislature and push for more funding for the Public Defenders.

If I could rate a zero I would. My family member has been getting his pretrials pushed out for TWO YEARS. After 5+ public defenders, Tom ford was the previous one saying his case isn't top priority so he didn't look into it. He promised a witness to appear and the day before pretrial he reassigned a new public defender who then pushed the case out two cycles. Now waiting a minimum 30 days for hopes of a witness to show if this new lady does her job. THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR RIGHT TO A SPEEDY TRIAL.

Public defender didn't inform me of my court call.Ended up with a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear.

My public defender has not got a hold of me after leaving hundreds of voice mail for him at this point in stuck
