John R. Campbell, Attorney at Law

John is amazing! I cannot recommend him enough! He got me EVERYTHING I wanted in my divorce case and made what could have been the hardest time of my life so much easier. Mr. Campbell and his paralegal Chrissy was awesome. They made sure we had no worries. They kept us up to date with everything. He fought hard to get my husband what he desired. We left mediation feeling very relieved from the outcome. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney. I would recommend him anytime. I would only use him for situation like we had. So this was back in 2011 and 12 but I retained Mr. campbell for a grand total of $12000. He was positive he could help me out being a first time offender never charged. I still had a year to do in jail and five years on paper. but all in all he went to two maybe three court dates for a total of $12 grand. Not even a fraction of the money was returned or even offered. Learned my lesson about paying them in full thinking that they could get something done. Another lawyer did something along the same lines but since it wasnt done in time I hired a different one and was out that day by this lawyer had the heart to give me all my money back as long as we had good standings together because this other lawyer has helped in the past. But sometimes I wonder if white collar criminals are worse than the criminals themselves. They can take the money and get away with it. You hit the lottery with me Mr. Campbell and that time I spent in there that money I gave you made it alot harder on me especially since it was close to half that you should of got. I just figured paying in full you could make things happen. Best of luck to you.

I paid 2 retainer fees one for $3750 and another one for $4700 and had not even went to court. I have requested an invoice for the 2nd fee 3 months ago, and was told by Chrissy that she would send it 3 months ago, but I still have not received it after numerous requests. My $4700 is still in John's hand. There was not work performed after I handed John $4700, bc I hired another attorney. I have asked for my retainer back, and have been ghosted since I have asked. I will be taking the necessary steps to report this attorney, and working with an attorney to do that, and get my money back. A discussion in court was that this behavior is normal for this attorney! 6/20/2025: Update...It's been over 5 months, and I still have not received the invoice that was promised by John's office. The 2nd retainer was paid right before our next court date; at that point I hired someone else, and let John go. They will not respond to my emails or answer my calls. No invoice accounted for. They just took my $4700 and ghosted me. Almost a total of $10,000 paid this attorney for a contract dispute.

Mr. Campbell and his firm are welcoming and friendly and easy people to talk to. I've heard great things about him. However, I do not feel like he best represented me in my case or has my best intentions at heart. I feel as though he would not listen to the facts that where at hand or the evidence that I provided for my case. He acted as though he knew already what was going to happen, there was some miscommunication on how to contact one another but the court system nor mr. Campbell exhausted their resources to contact me about my court appearance. I gave two emails two phone numbers mine and my mothers however I spent 45 days in jail due to the neglegence of his experience, I feel. John is a swell guy and knows what he's talking about, I feel as though I was misrepresented and not treated with the dignity as a client and a lawyer should have. I wish things would have been different and I could say he's the best lawyer in Madison county, unfortunately that's not my case. This is just my opinion but I would not hire him again.
